Altoona Salvation Army offering Thanksgiving meal this weekend

The Salvation Army in Altoona has been preparing all this week to feed 200 to 300 community members a Thanksgiving meal this weekend.

And organizers want you to know you are invited to the dinner.

Volunteers are preparing 14 20-pound turkeys, along with various side dishes to make the meal complete.

Organizers say the dinner is open to anyone for a time of fellowship, connecting with one another and enjoying good conversation.

“Many people in our community aren't able to have a meal for various reasons. Not only can they maybe not afford it, but for some people, they don’t have family nearby. This is a place where families can come together in our community,” says Larry Fulmer, a pastor.

The free meal is available to anyone in the community. It will be served Sunday between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
