PITTSBURGH (AP) — A 97-year-old woman who was the oldest victim of the Pittsburgh synagogue massacre will be laid to rest Friday at the end of a wrenching, series of funerals. Rose Mallinger was among 11 victims gunned down in the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history. Her daughter was wounded in the attack at Tree of Life synagogue. The Jewish community began burying its dead Tuesday as thousands of mourners attended services for a beloved doctor and two brothers.

JOHNSTOWN - There are serious allegations Friday against a chain of nursing homes in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania attorney general accuses Grane Healthcare of misleading consumers by “failing to provide basic services to elderly and vulnerable residents.” Out of the 11 facilities named in the lawsuit, three are in WJAC’s coverage area. Those include the Altoona Center for Nursing Care, the Cambria Care Center in Ebensburg and the LaurelWood Care Center in Johnstown.

A Pennsylvania woman is getting a lot of attention nationwide with pins she made in honor of the 21 lives lost in the Uvalde school shooting. 6 news spoke to the woman behind these pins who says they have recently been introduced and gifted to members of Congress. “So, I'm selling these pins their called 'Maite’s Shoes' and they are in honor of Maite Rodriguez who was one of the victims of the Uvalde Robb Elementary school shooting in May 2022,” said Gina Gennari, the creator of 'Maite’s Shoes' pin.

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County say two individuals are behind bars following a drug bust at a Cresson Borough apartment complex. Officials say on Tuesday, Cresson Borough police and the Cambria County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the Keystone Ave. Apartments following an investigation into suspected drug activity. Authorities say the search led to the seizure of various drugs, including heroin, methamphetamine, Oxycodone and marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia.

PHILADELPHIA (CNN) — Authorities say a woman has been arrested for allegedly shooting a bus driver to death in Philadelphia. “This is a very traumatic incident for the entire SEPTA family. Quite frankly, we're shell-shocked." SEPTA leaders are in mourning after one of their bus drivers was shot and killed in Germantown while on duty. Officials say surveillance video from a nearby store captured the suspect moments after she fired multiple shots.

CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WCYB) — Five people have been charged with attempted murder after a man suffered a skull fracture during an attack, according to sheriff's officials in Tennessee. All suspects were arrested over the weekend following the incident that occurred in August 2023, said Carter County sheriff's deputies. The sheriff's office stated that deputies responded to the Stoney Creek community on August 19, 2023. Deputies found a 29-year-old man who was being treated by Carter County EMS for a head injury.

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) — A rare great white shark sighting about 30 miles off the Alabama coast was caught on camera. Researchers at the University of South Alabama (USA) captured video of a juvenile female great white shark hanging out south of the Sand Island lighthouse. According to a news release from USA, this is the first known sighting in that area recorded by scientists, and this juvenile shark has never been recorded before.
