BENEZETTE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — UPDATE | Jay Township Fire Chief Brandon Kowalski tells 6 News that more than 100 acres of forest were impacted by Wednesday evening's wildfire, although he's not yet sure the exact amount.
Kowalski was the incident commander for the fire.
He tells 6 News it's still unclear what led to flames breaking out on a homeowners property around 3 p.m. before quickly spreading.
Crews from about 20 different departments were called to help fight the flames.
NEW YORK (TND) — Actor Steve Buscemi is said to be doing well and recovering after he was punched in the face during a random attack on the streets of New York City Wednesday. The news was first reported by the New York Post, which confirmed the assault with both Buscemi's publicist and the New York Police Department (NYPD). The department did put out a statement on the assault, granted without Buscemi's name on it, on the day of the crime.
BARNETT Twp., JEFFERSON Co.--A day long standoff with police ended peacefully Sunday morning when the suspect surrendered.
Police said John Macbeth is facing charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
Saturday around 8:30 a.m., police responded to an intoxicated man with a gun, holed up in his house.
Police said he refused to talk to police or come out.
Michael Macbeth is the lifelong friend and cousin of John Macbeth.
JEFFERSON, Pa. (WJAC) — The manager of a Denny’s in Brookville was engaged in selling methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to agents with the Attorney General’s Office and Punxsutawney Police Department.
Authorities say that Melissa Sue Lingenfelter, 42, sold the drugs to an undercover officer and confidential informant numerous times including at the restaurant where she worked.
Lingenfelter would perform the drug transactions in her vehicle in the parking lot and even briefly sat with the undercover officer and confidential informant inside the Denny’s, authorities claim.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — More parents of children in the Roman Catholic Church and survivors of sexual abuse by clergy members are joining a lawsuit alleging dioceses in the state are not properly reporting child sexual abusers.
That now includes the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown.
The amended class-action lawsuit alleges diocese in the state, including the diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, have created a public nuisance by failing to report every allegation of child abuse.

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Federal authorities say a Hollidaysburg couple has reportedly pleaded guilty in an alleged healthcare fraud scheme.
Officials say John and Paula Johnson, both age 62, pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to defraud the United States. Authorities say John Johnson also pleaded guilty to an additional charge of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud.
Authorities say John Johnson reportedly conspired with multiple individuals, including a man by the name of Rodney Yentzer, to defraud health insurance companies by illegally billing them for urine drug tests.
