Jen Johnson co-anchors 6 News at 5 and 6 News at 6. Jen arrived at WJAC in July of 1992. She had just graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a minor in Psychology. Her career started in the Centre County newsroom, where she made the transition from photographer to reporter. Jen transferred to Johnstown in 1994. Some of the most memorable stories she's worked on are the attack on America on September 11, 2001, and the Quecreek Mine Miracle.
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Officials with the Central PA Humane Society says they were the victims of vandalism Tuesday. They said the vandals were not able to enter the shelter, so all the animals are safe; however, the outside of the building and the two shelter vehicles were extensively damaged. Humane Society officials said the boiler room that heats their cattery was destroyed in an attempt to steal the copper piping which caused severe water damage to the entire room.
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A manager has been suspended after allegedly masturbating in a booth inside of the restaurant. According to Camp Hill Police, the incident happened on Mar. 1 at around 8:05 p.m. at the Chipotle on 3216 Trindle Rd. Authorities report that the male manager of the business "exposed his genitals and proceeded to masturbate" in front of people while he was sitting at a booth inside.
BETHEL PARK, Pa. (WJAC) — A Pittsburgh-area high school football team had a different kind of workout Monday. Instead of hitting the gym, they hit nearby neighborhoods - helping to dig people out of the snow. "It brought tears to my eyes, and it's a great thing to them on their day off," said Greg Hardy. It’s not what Hardy expected to see when he looked outside Monday morning, when he was getting ready to shovel his Bethel Park Driveway.
Sheetz is announcing a new donut-flavored beer to spread some cheer this holiday season. The restaurant and convenience chain announced the release of a new limited-edition craft beer brewed with one pound per barrel of the brand's Shweetz Glazed Vanilla Donut holes. Dubbed "Project Happy Hole-idayz," this first-ever beer was brewed in partnership with Wicked Weed Brewing Company. Available at 432 Sheetz stores across Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Virginia, Project Happy Hole-idayz will first be available to the public at 4 p.
CLEARFIELD -- Clearfield turned in an inspired performance last Friday, defeating Mountain League foe Penns Valley 56-49 to start out the year 2-0. Oliver Billotte plunged in from a yard out on fourth and goal with seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to pull out the thrilling victory. In what turned out to be one of the best shootouts the Mountain League has seen, Bison head coach Tim Janocko, in year 35 at the helm, decided to roll the dice with his offense leaving the game in their hands, and it paid off.
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A trio of local athletes will represent the United States in international competition this summer. 6 News met with the group that plans to add some more medals to a growing trophy case. For most athletes, summer usually means time off to recuperate, but for three local wrestlers, summer will be as busy as ever. Bishop McCort wrestlers Keegan Bassett, Melvin Miller, and Bo Bassett are fresh off of a successful trip to Las Vegas where each of them won gold in their age group at the US Open.
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — One of three Blair County men who was charged following an ATF investigation into illegal firearms sales and firearms trafficking has entered a guilty plea in the case. According to federal authorities, Harry Miller, age 47, of Martinsburg, appeared in court Monday where he pleaded guilty to multiple counts related to the possession, manufacturing and trafficking of illegal firearms. In April, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives charged Miller and Craig Zahradnik following a "
SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — More Somerset County residents are getting access to high-speed internet after a recent study to find areas with no service, or underserved areas, identified a few areas with the most need. Middlecreek and Upper Turkeyfoot townships, as well as Jenner, Lincoln, Quemahoning and Somerset townships were prioritized. At Tuesday’s commissioners meeting, it was noted that more than 18-hundred homes now have access to broadband internet through Verizon in the Middlecreek and Turkeyfoot project.
