SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Visitors to Somerset Lake will see more work being done to a trail that will eventually loop the entire way around the waterway.
Phase 2-B construction is beginning for a quarter mile piece of trail from the main parking area to the main boat launch along the water line, and back up through the woods to Wood Duck Road.
County planning officials say there is also clearing taking place on the grounds above the trail for the future site of a multi-use pavilion.
SEATTLE (KOMO) — A group of more than 200 pro-Palestinian protesters gathered on the University of Washington campus Tuesday night, with demonstrators twice using spray paint to vandalize the lens of a KOMO News camera.
Additionally, a KOMO News crew witnessed at least one fight during the demonstration, with at least 10 people involved in the skirmish. No arrests were reported and nobody appeared to be seriously hurt.
Throughout the protest, demonstrators held up black umbrellas as a means to block off access to the Quad on UW's campus.
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — A criminal complaint is providing more details about what led to a shooting Wednesday at the Central Court building in Altoona that claimed the life of a corrections officer.
Authorities were called to the court facility, located at 615 4th Street, just after 3 p.m. for reports of shots fired and an officer down.
Crews responded to find that 47-year-old Rhonda Russell had been shot in the holding area.
Plants went into the ground in Johnstown Wednesday at the Women's Help Center.
Residents helped fill raised garden beds with different types of fruits, vegetables and herbs.
The Women's Help Center recently fixed up the garden and planter beds after receiving a grant.
Women's Help Center's executive director Roxann Tyger said that the garden will have more positive outcomes than just providing residents with food.
Tyger said, "I think gardening is therapy in a way, too.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A local salon has received national recognition.
Jesse Peles, the creative director of Peles Salon with locations in Johnstown and Greensburg, has been inducted into Intercoiffure America, a prestigious, professional association that helps determine the standards of the industry.
It's a big deal for the area as the organization represents only the top 1 percent of salons in the country.
Peles said his clientele and hardworking team helped propel the salon to national recognition.

NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — A bridge damaged in a fiery crash that kept Interstate 95 in Connecticut closed Thursday and Friday has been demolished.
A live camera operated by the Connecticut Department of Transportation on Saturday showed excavators and bucket loaders scooping up rubble from the destroyed Fairfield Avenue overpass above I-95 in Norwalk and dumping it into large containers and dump trucks to be hauled away.
Crews started tearing down the bridge on Friday morning and work, including the repaving of damaged parts of the roadway, was expected to last through the weekend.
An event for the ‘Fuel the Cause’ fundraiser was held today at Nittany MinitMart's Headquarters.
Former Penn State linebacker LaVar Arrington and current linebackers Curtin Jacobs and Abdul Carter attended the event to support the cause.
Organizers of the fundraiser say two cents are being donated for every gallon of gas sold at Nittany MinitMart in April and May.
One cent comes from Nittany MinitMart and the other comes from PA skills.
