Half a century ago, in June of 1972, Hurricane Agnes caused significant and widespread damage throughout the Mid-Atlantic, including here in our area. ADVERTISEMENT
50 years ago this week, Hurricane Agnes moved onshore over the Florida panhandle before slowing down over Pennsylvania bringing record setting rainfall totals and destructive flooding.

WESTERN HILLS, Ohio (WKRC) — One person has been hospitalized and two suspects are in custody after a fight escalated into a shooting Saturday in Ohio.
It happened around 12:15 p.m. at Western Hills Plaza, a popular community hub that’s home to outlets like Old Navy, PetSmart, TJ Maxx, Target and others.
The SWAT team was called to the scene and shut down the shopping center.
At 1 p.m., the city of Cincinnati issued a post on social media that police had given the all-clear and that there was no active threat to the community.
Pittsburgh, Pa (WJAC) — Pittsburgh Steelers' center Maurkice Pouncey announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday, after 11 seasons.
Pouncey was drafted in 2010, along with his twin brother Mike, who has also announced his retirement.
Pouncey was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-Decades Team for the 2010s
Several players and head coach Mike Tomlin have offered congratulatory messages to Pouncey.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — There's a new place to eat in Cambria County, and it's called "The Fifth Local Eatery and Alehouse."
"The whole concept and vibe -- we're definitely trying to go for that modern-day bar feel," said partner & co-owner, Corey Crocco.
Corey is also the owner of "Flair of Country Catering" -- partnering with Dom Chippie of "Rizzo's Restaurant of Windber" and the Martella family -- to combine years of restaurant experience in creating something new for the area.

BALTIMORE (TND) — The unbelievable collapse of a bridge in Baltimore has sparked a search for missing people, scrambled shipping routes, disrupted travel for tens of thousands of people in the surrounding areas and prompted a rush of resources to the region as government officials try to figure out what’s next.
The Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed in stunning fashion early Tuesday morning when a cargo ship crashed directly into one of its support beams, causing the entire bridge to crumble around it and fall into the water below.

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) —
Authorities in Blair County say a man is facing charges after he was accused of abusing a young child and a dog by throwing said child onto the animal and killing it.

Altoona police say officers were dispatched to the Evergreen Manors apartment complex, on the night of May 25th, after a witness reported seeing a man assaulting an 18-month-old child.
University Park, PA (WJAC) — On Thursday, Penn State announced the retirement of long-time fencing coach Wes Glon after nearly 40 years with the university.
Glon began his tenure at Penn State as an assistant coach in 1985 and was named head coach in 2013.
In recent years, Glon has been at the center of controversy after two former fencing team members filed lawsuits against him, claiming sexual abuse and harassment.
