State police in Ebensburg said a man about 6 feet tall, and wearing a black and red Under Armour sweatshirt, bluejeans and black sneakers, robbed the store at gunpoint around 5 p.m. Police encourage anyone with information about the crime to call Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-4PA-TIPS or the state police at 814-471-6500.
DUBOIS, Pa. (WJAC) — Police said they were dispatched to a home on Chestnut Street in DuBois Monday, where a man and woman were found dead in an upstairs bedroom. DuBois police said they were notified by a family member who found them around 11 a.m. Clearfield County Coroner Kim Shaffer-Snyder identified the pair as Ashley Ross, 24, of Clarington, and Nathan Forbes, 41, of DuBois. Autopsies were performed Tuesday. Shaffer-Snyder said there was no apparent foul play and toxicology results are pending.
ROARING SPRING, Pa. (WJAC) — The Roaring Spring paper mill will soon be closing for good, according to the Altoona Blair County Development Corporation. ABCD Corporation spoke directly with Appvion officials who confirmed the plant would be closing in March or early April, according to ABCD President Stephen McKnight. “In the best economic times this would be devastating news for the local workforce, their families and our community,” McKnight said “In the current global climate, it’s even worse.

PITTSBURGH - Two-time Super Bowl champion and Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison announced Monday that he is retiring from the NFL after 15 seasons. "I've missed way too much for way too long... and I'm done," said Harrison in an Instagram post that mostly consisted of pictures of his children. "Many thanks to my family, coaches, the fans, and everyone who played a role in my football life." Harrison had three stints with the Steelers in his 15-year career, the first in 2002, then another from 2004-2012 and 2014-2017.

The NFL's longest-tenured head coach said Thursday he plans on returning to the Steelers for an 18th season, brushing aside speculation that he was on the cusp of burning out and considering taking a step back. UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WJAC) — Penn State’s James Franklin has agreed to the terms of a new 10-year contract to remain as the head football coach of the Nittany Lions through 2031. The terms were approved by the Subcommittee on Compensation of the Penn State Board of Trustees Tuesday. The new contract increases his pay from $5.5 million this year to $7 million per year, plus an annual $500,000 retention bonus at the end of each calendar year and other performance bonuses.
