HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) -- Highland Hall towered empty over the historic district for about 12 years before reopening as a senior living facility Thursday.
Since about 1840, the building has served as a private girls' school, a Franciscan school, a military radio school during World War II and county offices.
At Thursday's ribbon-cutting, Blair County Commissioner Bruce Erb called Walnut Street one of the most beautiful streets in Hollidaysburg.

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Millions of dollars in federal COVID relief money remains unused in many communities and counties nationwide, but could that be changing soon due to the federal budget situation?
Federal American Rescue Plan Act funding was approved and allocated to address the negative financial impact of the pandemic.
In Centre County, the county's allotment was close to $31.5 million.
As of early December, officials say 62% of that amount has been spent on everything from helping businesses to various repair projects at county owned buildings, and nearly $12 million remains.

Stennett spent nine of his 11 big league seasons with the Pirates, helping the team win the 1979 World Series. Stennett hit .274 for his career and twice received votes for the National League's Most Valuable Player award. He started at second base on Sept. 1, 1971, when the Pirates fielded the first all-Black starting lineup in MLB history.
